Video Playback-Question
« on: August 15, 2024, 08:59:50 AM »
Hi All

Currently using Retro FE to run my Jukebox I can Run mp4 in 1080p without lock ups or a black screen (Stable). My Retro FE is using AV-Codec-58 is there a later Codec to use ?
Or am I already maxing out Retro FE out, is there a way to run higher quality Videos or different video Extensions.

Any Feedback Appreciated
Thanks
Mac

Which platform are you running this on? RetroFE uses the gstreamer library with plugins, which should be the latest version on any Linux or Mac system. On Windows it uses the libraries included in the release, which are certainly not the latest. I need to do an upgrade in that area; some of the releases that use RetroFE as a base have already done so.

Hi Thanks for the response.
I am running on the windows 11 platform (Ghost Spectre) is there a way to update the G Streamer Plugins ?
Or are you planning to upgrade to allow higher quality MP4 to run sometime in the future ?

My AV Codec is 58 in my core folder  I am sure I have seen higher but cant locate now !!

any support help appreciated.

Thanks
Mac:)

You'll either have to update them yourself, and compile against this new library, or you'll have to wait till I get around to doing it. An alternative would be to grab the executable and core directory from one of the releases that has already done an update, like CoinOPS.
