Remap CoinOps buttons?
« on: May 21, 2020, 12:04:44 AM »
Is this the proper forum in which to ask this question?

I have an existing MAME arcade cabinet I built years ago. The computer died and I'm in the process of upgrading.

I downloaded "CoinOPS Arcadia 6 Arcade Mame2003 (Low Spec)" and got it working, but I think I read somewhere that the controls.conf is set up by default to work with XBox controllers?

Anyway, is there an existing file somewhere that would be a drop-in replacement that would work for a basic 2 joystick, 8 action buttons (4 per player), P1 start, P2 start, insert coin, exit, start game, pause, etc.?

The CoinOPS discord channel would be a better place to ask questions, but I'll see if I can answer yours.

In CoinOPS, the controls are set up for both standard MAME keyboard controls (which will work with many standard arcade panels and controllers like the iPac2) as well as the XBOX controller. As such, I don't think you'll need to change much if you're using a standard keyboard controller. Otherwise, simply run the unlock controls script so you can configure them from within MAME.
