Amstrad GX4000
« on: May 12, 2017, 05:45:34 PM »
Hi,

I have added few more collections without any issue but one of them is causing me one and I don't know whether it comes from the loader command line or MAME itself.
The error message appearing from MAME is the following :

Quote
The driver requires images to be located in the following device(s) : "cartridge"

I can then navigate through my roms but nothing is really happening going forward...
I checked and I have the bios for the gx4000 so I believe the system requires something else special.

If someone had already seen that issue, your help is then welcome ! :)

Thanks.

I think i found the issue, it is because of the romset I currently have.
Regarding the GX4000, it seems to have only 25 games when I have something like 12K roms...
So I thought it includes the Amstrad CPC too but when i look at the hypelist I shoul donly have 3K roms

Hence I need to check that part on my own, sorry for the hassles.

The GX4000 was a console based on CPC hardware and games, but the amount of games released was quite small. The GX4000 and CPC need to be launched differently.

To clarify why you have way more roms than the amount listed in the hyperlist xml file: the hyperlist xmls are not a list of every game nor every version of a game for systems. They are 1G1R lists (1 Game 1 Rom) of playable games where English is the only language necessary to know. Rom sets you find from the dumping groups will have versions of the same game from multiple regions, possibly multiple dumps of the same game, and games that are unplayable without knowing German, Japanese, French, etc.

Thanks for the information above, perhaps you can explain one more thing...

For instance I have one rom called Pang made of 2 .bin files (Pang (Europe) + Pang (Europe)[a]), shall I place them both into the same zipped file ?
I think it comes from the fact that the game was made of 2 cartridges.

As well, I had the same romset but the extensions were .cpr instead of .bin, I believe it depends of the emulator you are using...

You just want one of those roms. The [a] version is just an alternative dump.
