i have tryied mame on its own and it does work fine.
Before this message i had an issue with msvcp140.dll which i have dl for 32bit and 64bit and placed them accordingly to their respective folder in system32 and the one for 64bit

RC8 requires installation of the Visual Studio libraries, as specified on the dowload page. For some odd reason compiling with static linking causes Virusscanners to go haywire so now this is needed again.

Can you provide a screenshot and the log.txt? I'll investigate.

Problem is that it does even not generate a log.txt and i checked as well in the logs of windows and nothing neither...
I am trying a last solution otherwise i will have to reinstall a new win7 and check again.

i keep you posted

From what I could find it's usually caused by a mix of 32 bit and 64 bit libraries. I'll check how it was compiled, but I think 32 bit.

Hi,

I have used a tool I will share later when back at home to check the required libraries and this has fixed my issue, i was just about to reinstall the OS from scratch otherwise...
I haven't been able to identify what has been changed to be honest so maybe useless for you though.

Well, 0.7.x were all compiled with static linking, so no additional libraries, other than those supplied by the core directory, were needed. For some odd reason the Anti-Virus tools have been going haywire over that lately, so I was forced to go back to dynamic linking (like Emb used to do). Unfortunately that also requires people to have the Visual Studio libraries installed on their system.

I have not checked out that website, but I would advise caution, especially when you are downloading dll files from non microsoft websites.

The reason being is that some dlls are rumoured to open your computer up to hacks.
