Display games naming
« on: December 31, 2022, 12:47:43 AM »
Wonder how to get proper naming of the games? For example I want something like this:

Addams Family, The - Pugsley's Scavenger Hunt

to

The Addams Family: Pugsley's Scavenger Hunt

It either displays the file name or the corresponding description in the XML file. If there's an XML file for this system, just change it there.

I understand I can edit the xml to this:

The Addams Family: Pugsley's Scavenger Hunt

but that moves the game to the letter T.

Is there a way to keep the order of the xml file?

Normally it orders alphabetically, but you could turn that off in the settings.conf file of the collection.

Is it possible to have the firstLetter based on the game name instead of the description?
If I scroll now, firstLetter is a T instead of a A in this example.

Code: [Select]
<game name="Addams Family, The - Pugsley's Scavenger Hunt (USA)" index="" image="">

The Addams Family: Pugsley's Scavenger Hunt

I'm afraid not. You could delete the XML file, (and the database file so it will regenerate without the XML file), and have it use the file name instead, but there's no option in the RetroFE program for doing this configurably at the moment.

I'm pretty sure you're in the minority here where you want 300+ games starting with "The". Most people favor the dismissal of articles when sorting. But if you want it that way you can absolutely alter the xml to do that for your use.

That's not the issue, Agent47. What is requested here is for RetroFE to display the name as "The Adams Family", but for the ordering to put it under A.
