Just tested it!  Works great.  You rock!

And if anyone is kind enough to share the videos that go with it, I'd appreciate it :)  They are available with free account, just a pain to get!   :)

Thanks.  The issue was that cores that I was using didn't support zip files.

Here is what I had to correct to:

For N64:

-L cores\parallel_n64_libretro.dll game.z64

For NES:

-L cores\mesen_libretro.dll game.nes

Found them.  I only have the free EmuMovies account so it's 800 individual files :/

Are they anywhere else?

Thanks for the tip, I've done that and no changes.  I've also tried the linux parameters and no luck.  I'm assuming it's an issue with retroarch.

I've downloaded the 40GB setup on youtube that is "preconfigured" for mame and retroarch and has all the cores etc and has a bunch of artwork.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5gmnEZzpLiw

Unfortunately, I can't get some of the emulator to work.  Atari ones work fine, the SNES works, but the N64 and NES don't.

I've never used retroarch before (mainly Mame and older stand alone emulators).

Attached are my log files and conf files in case anyone can help!

Yip!  That fixed it!  Increasing the font size also made it more visually appealing.  Now I just need to find the videos!

Thanks for working on this!  I love how clean it is!

My only comments (and I have this issue with a lot of themes).
- I wish the cartridges and covers don't cover the menu titles when you stop scrolling;  Sometimes I pause to look at the titles, and they get overwritten too quickly; possible having smaller versions of them near the videos would be simpler (non popup)
- It would be good to know which playlist you're scrolling

Again these are personal preferences...

Can't wait to try it out!

Awesome theme.  I need to get a hold of the artwork that goes with it!  Is it available anyone as a single torrent?

Only challenge I have with it is that it displays blanks when the logo of the game isn't found.  Retrospin does not, so I'm assuming it's an issue with the layout.

Are there any plans for similar videos for other playforms?

Thanks!

The issue was my old mouse!  It was causing connects/disconnects and messing with focus.

Got a new one!

Thanks!  I was looking at the wrong layout file!  I didn't realize it was emulator specific!

I managed to move the artwork to the left of the screen and change the delay from 4 to 10 (it was done on a per-element basis).

The only thing I couldn't figure out was video fade in...

Thanks again for all the support!

I'm running RetroFE in an arcade cabinet using windows 10 and would like it to run automatically.

I've copied the shortcut and put in shell:common startup (after editing it with the correct path).

It runs, but the windows toolbar is in front of it (I.e. no focus).  Since I don't want to use a mouse, how can I automate this?

This method of starting was working fine with another front end.

Could you upload a screenshot of the theme looks on your screen to get a better idea of what you're facing?

1. It's possible to define in the theme what font and fontcolor is used when art is not available or even if text is shown at all. The missing manufacturers are probably pulled from the _common collection. It should be included in the full version from this website as well as the base pack from EmuMovies. The background images are probably expected to be in the fanart directory; I have a decent set available in the MEGA set as well as the MAME collection pack on EmuMovies. It's far from complete though. The videos can be found in the MEGA set as well as the MAME video pack on EmuMovies.

2. You can add/remove keys for the favorites set, and use them from within RetroFE. Alternatively, you can simply create/edit the text file in the playlists directory of the collection.

3. A theme can display the name of the playlist. I'm just not sure the Animatic theme does that at the moment. It can be displayed as text or as image, depending on the theme.

Downloading your complete pack solved most of my issues :)

The animatic theme does not:
- display a font (for game name) if a graphic isn't found
- Doesn't look like the image of the theme (see attachments)
- Doesn't display playlist name (other than star for favorite)

An update would certainly be appreciated :)

>>  To clarify- Is there a key when I'm in "all games" that I can press say after playing a new game to add a game to favorites?  Or do I have to manually edit the favorites.txt (which is what I did, but it's less than ideal).

Yes, see also http://www.retrofe.nl/wiki/doku.php?id=controls
You can define keys in your controls.conf for addPlaylist and removePlaylist.

Ah, I thought it was to create a new playlist - not to add to fave :)

That solved it!

General Discussion & Help / Layout help: Retrospin
« on: February 10, 2018, 04:00:01 AM »
Hey!

I've been using retrospin for Mame (arcade) and have made the following mods to keep the layout "simple".

- I've renamed the artwork_front and medium front directories to make them "not appear" and cover the names of the games

What I can't figure out (I'm not a programmer) is how to:

- move artwork_front and medium front to the left somewhere to cover the "generic" arcade game (not on top of each other)
- not let the game names "dim" after a few seconds so you can't see your options (see screenshot)
- Also, the "fade out" of the video takes too long- would be good that it's quicker
- display which playlist I'm in

If anyone can point me in the right location to edit the XML I'd appreciate it!

Thanks!
