I continue working on the design and simplification of the ui to make it more minimalist. I hope you like the improvements I'm working on:

Excellent work mate. The theme just gets better and better. Can you upload the latest theme to the github link in the original post please?

@iGarikoitz - In the latest theme download. You named the conf files in the info folders using the game names which causes the game info not to appear. These need renaming to game.conf for the info to start displaying again.

Not sure if this is an oversight or not.

Use the latest beta: Aura 1.0 beta v2

If you put for example garou.zip inside the garou mark of the wolves folder, you will see that the conf file inside the info folder has the same name as garou.zip that is: garou.conf The file of the game and the file conf that is inside the folder info, they must have the same name so that the information of the game is shown in the frontend.

You are 100% correct :) Thanks for clarifying.

On a side note, I know you use an xbox controller in the layout. Is there any scope to include a playstation 2 controller? Perhaps you have the clip art files that you can send me so I can replace the files?

Seeing the following error in the logs. What does it mean? When you select a game, the info for the game is not shown.

[2018-12-12 18:56:07] [INFO] [Menu] File does not exist: "C:\Users\Imran\Aura1b2Test\collections\garou mark of the wolves\menu.txt"

This theme is awesome and I'm glad I waited for it.

As nice as the theme is, could you make a "dark" or "lights out" version of the theme?

config tool from within the frontend sounds good.

7
Tried latest version of RetroFE. my gamepad doesn't work at all now.

8
You're using RetroFE 0.8.13 at the moment?

Sorry dude. I was using version 0.8.0. I've checked the controls.conf file for version 0.8.13. What should I put down for 'up' i.e. what button press from the gamepad?

There's no guidance in the file. I don't know what keyword to use.. i.e. joy1up joy1axis+ etc

9
I do believe the controller handler may need looking at.

the controls.conf file allows offers 2 types of codes for configuring the dpad (direction pad) on the gamepad

joyxhatyleft

joyxaxis0+

Using the MAME input configuration screen I tried different combinations to see what values are returned. I did some tests with setting the button for UP.

Button                       Value returned

dpad up                               Joy 1 Up
dpad up (analog on)             Joy 1 Hat Switch U
POV stick 1 up (analog on)    Joy 1 Up

I have no interest in having analog switched on as I have no interest in using the POV sticks. I want to use the direction buttons to control the retrofe menus without having to switch the analog button on.

I'm using 0.80 I think.

I'll try the setup with other versions and feedback.

General Discussion & Help / Playstation Controller via USB adapter question
« on: September 27, 2017, 12:17:11 PM »
Hi,

Curious about something. I'm using an official Playstation 2 Controller connected via a PS2 to USB adapter. Windows recognizes the controller and it doesn't require any special drivers. I don't use the dualshock functionality. I configured controller buttons in retrofe config file as normal.

For all my other emulators/games etc the gamepad works perfect. The direction and other buttons work fine.

When I run RetroFE, I have to press the 'Analog' button (the middle button that lights up in red) to get the direction buttons working. When I choose a game, once I am in it, I have to press the Analog button OFF so that my emulator responds to my controller configuration.

Other games, emulators etc do not require me to do this.

I've attached my controls.conf file incase I have set up my controller incorrectly.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi guys,

I'm looking for some advice and recommendations please on a machine. Now that my RetroFE setup is nearing it's completion I'm excited to host it on a suitable machine. I'm looking for advice on the hardware to run my setup on. My requirements are listed below:

- Windows Based
- Small as possible (Will sit in my living room underneath TV)
- Bluetooth desirable
- Nothing too overkill

Running following games:

- Snes games
- Genesis games
- Early 90's dosbox games
- mid 90's windows games i.e GTA 1 (none of which are 3D)
- Around 10 psx1 games (Crash bandicoot, Porsche Challenge, Tekken 3)
- Arcade (mame) - mainly 2d classics like street fighter alpha etc

As you can see my games don't require very demanding hardware. I have looked at a few ideas so far:

1. Intel Compute Stick
2. Intel NUC
3. Zotac i68 (mini pc of 10x10x4 cm with core i5 and integrated graphics)
4. Kangaroo Plus Mobile Mini PC, Intel Atom x5 Z8500, 4GB LPDDR3, 64GB eMMC, Finger Print Reader, Non OS, Windows 10 compatible)
5. Sumvision Cyclone Quad Core Windows 8.1 Mini PC/Computer

What do you think of any of the above?

Can you recommend any nice micro PC's? Which CPU's should I avoid?

My first preference is the Intel Compute Stick however I'm not sure if it is powerful enough.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

General Discussion & Help / Re: Mame Roms not launching via .Bat file

dustind900 - that works perfectly. I didn't think it was possible to automate the running of exe files without pressing the programmed hotkey first.

This is brilliant :) Thanks very much man.

I have a question about translating a vbs script I created to alt+enter upon the launch of a windows game. Perhaps you can help me translate it into an AHK script. I'll PM you the details.
