I renamed the old installation folder, unzipped new one then moved the collections, meta and layouts over from previous version

So I "upgraded" to the latest Windows release (10.21) on my test laptop and am having a host of problems.
First, my collection names don't show up in the top-left corner, only the manufacturer (been happening for several versions now)
Second, RetroFE crashes every other time I try to launch it.
Third, the strangest of them all, it retains a "default" memory of games names and won't read any of my hyperlist XML files. I spent an hour trying to figure out if my XML had any mistakes, only to find out that all of my custom XMLs are being ignored. Is there a way to force refresh all of the hyperlist data?

General Discussion & Help / Launching Taito Type X Games From RetroFE?
« on: August 23, 2020, 03:27:58 AM »
I have used a launcher called "cmd" that opens a command prompt in windows when I want RetroFE to launch a game from a .bat file. For many years this has worked fine, but now that I'm using Type X loader and integrating it into this front end, it launches the game, but then goes back to RetroFE while the game is playing. I have tried adding "pause" to my .bat file, which works until I quit the game. There is no "Press any key to continue" prompt as expected, just a black screen where nothing happens, no matter what I press. Until of course I CTRL+ALT+DEL and kill RetroFE. So my two options are having RetroFE annoyingly resume in the background, or forcing close after quitting the game.

I have not yet tried NESicaXLive but I'm thinking it will be the same result.
Any one out there have any luck getting this to work properly?

I figured it out. layout.xml must remove the "floor" section for each collection. Now I am trying to figure out how to remove the "reflection" from the box art...

Where exactly do I go to strip the blue bar from the bottom of the screen in Aeon Nox?

When you are viewing the games in a collection, there is this bar along with a mirror-like reflection of the box art. How can I make that vanish?

General Discussion & Help / Re: Installing RetroFE in Raspbian Stretch

Is there a step by step out there for this? I would like this to be my cross-platform setup as I put years into perfecting my Windows collection with this.

I run the script above in the OP, but for the life of me I can't remember where I got it from. I think it was mentioned in the download link once upon a time. Some errors come up during the install but they go by so quickly that I cannot see them all. Running from terminal emulator as SU.

Sorry to revive an old thread, but I have reinstalled Stretch a couple of times and still can't get this to compile. Is there any chance this will be revisited? I tried EmulationStation and it is god awful compared to RetroFE.

General Discussion & Help / RetroFE for Raspbian Buster?
« on: July 08, 2019, 01:07:03 PM »
Peter,

Will there be any builds for Raspbian Buster or Raspberry Pi in general in the future?

11
Is there an archive I can extract to my installed folder that would replace whatever is missing?

12
I'm using the official Stretch image on a Pi 3B+ FWIW

13
Yes the executable is missing as well.

14
Most glaringly a lack of an executable but it would appear that the core folder is empty as well.

General Discussion & Help / Installing RetroFE in Raspbian Stretch

I am using a Pi 3B+ with Raspbian Stretch using the line:
Code: [Select]
bash <(curl -s https://bitbucket.org/phulshof/retrofe/raw/default/Scripts/Raspi2/install.sh)Install is NOT working. It makes a RetroFE folder in root but not all is there. I have tried with and without SU access. Can anyone advise?
