Feature Requests / Suggestions / Audio normalization
« on: January 29, 2017, 07:27:11 AM »
Any interest on this? So what happens with the gameplay videos I've got is that some are very loud, while others aren't, which is really annoying because sometimes it's quite a big difference changing from one game to another. If I have the sound of my computer at a particular level, it's because I want stuff to output that amount of sound, so it's too bad some games feel like someone picked up the TV remote and started messing with me. I know video players have this option, so maybe it could be applied.

Details:

I've tried both USB and Bluetooth, and it crashes with both.
Running latest build, but it has always happened on previous ones too.
If I connect the joystick after RetroFE has launched, it doesn't crash, but the DS4 isn't detected by RetroFE.
log is this: http://pastebin.com/imN3S6FX
I'm running Windows 8, the DS4 is connected with DS4Windows, and the error is the generic retrofe.exe has crashed window, with these details:

Code: [Select]
Problem Event Name: APPCRASH
  Application Name: retrofe.exe
  Application Version: 0.0.0.0
  Application Timestamp: 588c6c29
  Fault Module Name: SDL2.dll
  Fault Module Version: 2.0.4.0
  Fault Module Timestamp: 5771dbfc
  Exception Code: c0000005
  Exception Offset: 00144fa0
  OS Version: 6.2.9200.2.0.0.256.48
  Locale ID: 13322
  Additional Information 1: 5861
  Additional Information 2: 5861822e1919d7c014bbb064c64908b2
  Additional Information 3: dac6
  Additional Information 4: dac6c2650fa14dd558bd9f448e23afd1

And, randomly, it worked just now for the first time ever (and the joystick worked along with the keyboard, woohoo!!), but I didn't do anything different, and it's crashing again, so I don't know what that was about.

Feature Requests / Suggestions / Option for title sorting
« on: January 23, 2017, 08:17:15 PM »
I guess this is more of a question, but I don't think this is handled in any way currently. So basically the prime example of this is that arcade games must be named in a very specific name for them to work with MAME, which conflicts with alphabetical sorting because the full name of the game is often different from this name. So for example, ideally I'd expect "Mars Matrix" to be after "Mars", but because of their filenames they are quite separate from each other and it's very difficult to know how to reach a certain game.

Feature Requests / Suggestions / Icon
« on: January 21, 2017, 05:50:19 PM »
This is a bit of an odd request, but anyway - the executable has no icon and it has been like that forever, I think. Well, isn't it time it has one? I know I can use a custom one, but I have a rule that I only use "official" icons (the ones bundled with the program in question), so this is kind of awkward for me haha...

This one: http://www.retrofe.com/forum/index.php?topic=278.0 looks pretty nice, for example, but I don't think it was ever adopted.

Feature Requests / Suggestions / Per game launcher configuration
« on: January 17, 2017, 01:08:46 AM »
There are systems that have games that aren't able to be launched with the emulator associated with the system. For example, one would typically include Mario Kart Arcade GP under "Arcade", but one needs Dolphin instead of MAME to run it.

It has been mentioned before, I'm just bringing it here to the new forum.

General Discussion & Help / What does "baseMediaPath=" change?
« on: January 14, 2017, 09:02:22 PM »
I want to have all the "artwork" outside of RetroFE. By changing the value mentioned, what am I changing? Is it the entire "collections" folder? Or just the "medium_artwork" and "system_artwork" folder? Do I also need to have the info.conf, exclude.conf, include.conf, and settings.conf located in the location selected on baseMediaPath=, or can it remain on RetroFE's collection folder?

General Discussion & Help / Broken themes
« on: January 08, 2017, 11:14:23 PM »
I went through all the threads from the old forum theming section and downloaded all themes. So now I'm testing them all, and almost all of them seem to be broken. I read somewhere that there was an update at some point that changed the ways themes were handled, so could someone tell me what version that is? And also, does upgrading/downgrading the program merely rely on changing the .exe file or does something else need to be deleted/added?

General Discussion & Help / Automatically detect screen resolution
« on: January 07, 2017, 08:55:03 PM »
Is this currently possible, or should I make a thread on the 'feature request' section? What happens is that it seems I have to manually input my resolution on the "settings.conf", but I move between two monitors during the day, with different resolutions, so it's really awkward to have to change it every time I do this.
