Third party applications/tools / Media Scanner
« on: May 17, 2017, 03:15:24 AM »
Media Scanner scans your rom and media folders against a hyperlist xml, no-into dat (not recommended), or clrmamepro dir to dat. It will create a folder in the same directory as the database. For each media type filled in Media Scanner will output an extra, a have, and a missing text list. Also it will create a minted.txt that contains only games that have all media. All directories will be saved in Media Scanner.ini. If you only want to check mint against a couple media types do a full scan first then clear the fields you don't want included in the minted check.

Media Scanner.ini [Settings]
RomExtList
UI Setting - Custom list of rom extensions. Default: zip|7z

MediaExtList
UI Setting - Custom list of media extensions. Default: png|mp4|jpg|ico|txt

MediaNames
UI Setting - Custom list of media names. Used to override media names in UI (affects output text names). Default: Media1|Media2|Media3|Media4|Media5|Media6|Media7|Media8|Media9

Third party applications/tools / RetroFE Playlist Creator
« on: May 14, 2017, 07:45:41 AM »
I've seen a few people ask for this.

Super easy to use.
  • Extract to your Favorite location
  • Open the App
  • Enter your Credit Card Info (JK  ;D)
  • Select a hyperlist xml
  • Press the "Create Lists" button
  • Wait for the Message Box to say "Done!"

A folder, named after the hyperlist, will be created in the same directory as the application. Inside will be more folders named after the xml keys (genre, players, etc). Inside those folders will be text files named after the various category values (Sports.txt, Action.txt, etc). Any problems let me know and I'll try to fix it.

Feature Requests / Suggestions / New Forum Categories

Would it be too much of a pain to add a new forum category for 3rd party apps or something like that?  ;)

Is this something you could add Pieter? If hiding is an issue maybe just move the mouse to (0, 0) or better yet (ScreenWidth, ScreenHeight). The mouse is visible when using bezels and while its not really an issue, my ocd says otherwise :P

When the front-end is looking for media it should look for whatever media with and without tags.

When loading assets look first for the full name then look for the name without the tags.

This is where a lot of naming problems come from. The actual romname is correct but the tags are different. This is true if someone downloads the story files on emumovies and uses newer versions of HyperList xmls to name their roms.

It would make media assets more universal to ignore the tags except when launching roms. All media and story files made as a shareable collection could be named without tags making them universal among different versions of a given naming convention.

Make sense?

General Discussion & Help / RetroFE Meta Database
« on: April 17, 2017, 03:53:25 AM »
I am wondering if the database gets recreated every launch or if the data is persistent? I would like to import data directly to the database instead of using hyperlist xml files. If this is possible I could easily write a program that will scrape data directly to the database. I already have the code to search and fuzzy match results from GameFaqs, MobyGames, and TheGamesDB just laying around.

Off Topic / No-Intro Mega Meta Collection
« on: April 11, 2017, 02:42:32 AM »
This is a collection of stories and meta data for the No-Intro rom sets. Data is scraped from multiple sites. These collections pertain to the FULL set of roms so there will be info for multiple regions of a game if it exists. As much as I hate rom tags all romnames will be a 1:1 match to the No-Intro database. If you can't find your game in this collection then there probably isn't much meta for it floating around the web...

Anyone finds any errors let me know so I can fix them.
XML files are compatible with HyperSpin and RetroFE.

If you change
Code: [Select]
<menu> to <datafile>and
Code: [Select]
</menu> to </datafile>it will be compatible with clrmamepro as a parent clone dat so you can make a 1G1R collection.
