This thread has a nice script for retrpi to add retrofe and it will use all the retrpi launchers and rom folders etc. Makes Linux setup or pi setup a snap, worth checking out imho

It works on mine. When I go into a menu it makes the swooshing sound and back out of a menu it makes the beep. So seems fine here with the latest exe.

Retrospin Static 16x9 1.2 Released:
- Updated Main Menu layout to use mode commonlayout for images (allows for per item images of batch files)
- Moved Main menu images to their proper locations here: RetroSpin - Static 16x9\collections\_common\medium_artwork\<image type>\<SystemName>.png
- Updated System Layouts to have infobar.png as InfoBar.png matching the image case (linux doesnt like it when the case doesnt match and would show up missing on linux based systems)

So the same video on the main menu that plays fine does not play renamed as the rom name for the system. Not sure what my deal is. Any ideas?
Edit: I tested with the default 16x9 and AeonNox themes/layouts as well and no videos on the system menu as well. So maybe it is something related to the pi image I am using/test.
I dont see in the log where it(retrofe) loads the video, is there some where to find that?
I double checked the codecs of the vids too, the main menu and system ones use the same codec: avc1 mp4a: MPEG-4 AAC LC

Thank you for that. So far I have tested atari 7800 and works great. Launcher, launches games. SIngle controller works fine. What else do I need to test for you?

So I am testing my theme on linux/rpi and running into issues.
I get main menu videos fine. But I am not getting videos per game/per system. At first I thought it was a basemediapath thing but that wasnt it. Maybe someone can help me.
retrofe install location: /opt/retropie/configs/all/retrofe/
the layout.xml uses this line for the videos:

<reloadableVideo imageType="screenshot" alpha="1" x="584" y="223" height="602" width="778" layer="6"/>
The settings.conf for the system has this for video:
media.video = %BASE_MEDIA_PATH%\%ITEM_COLLECTION_NAME%\medium_artwork\video
I am testing atari 7800 and the videos are there in this path:
/opt/retropie/configs/all/retrofe/collections/Atari 7800/medium_artwork/video
The videos match the game names (cAseSenSITive) and all too. Not sure what my deal is. If anyone has an ideal I appreciate it

Can you run which retrofe from the command line?
Output should be /usr/bin/retrofe
You can also look for that file directly and try to run it. Let me know what you find.
Yeah it is there so I was over thinking it. I should be able to launch retrofe from anywhere if it is there? or it should have copied to the retrofe folder in configs?

Yeah mine was like that then I removed the default stuff out of menu.txt and put Atari 2600 only in there and it displayed my stuff with out videos. I think I may need to work with Pieter on a separate thread to fix if you have the same issue. Thanks for checking it out. Just looking to make it as accessible as possible.

If you could test my layout RetroSpin - Static 16x9 and see if you get videos that would be great. I am looking to update RetroSpin - Static 16x9 to be more linux compatible and found a few images that need to be renamed to lower case or upper case in some instances. None of my videos are currently loading.
