You really need to rename this skin. The reason I say this for is because it is NOT Arcade Legends

Here is a video of what it actually looks like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L2pEXKsiC1o if you skip to 03:16 you will see the interface.

It is like calling something Pandora's box and looking nothing like the skin.

When I read the subject name, I could have kissed you. However seeing the very few screen shots that you have included, I smited you, simply because it is not Arcade Legends.

Mark

I don't know what to say, I was cleaning out my email and came across an email from retrofe from 2017 so two years since I have been here.

I thought that I would see what has happened, and I am BLOWN AWAY by seeing this skin. BLOWN AWAY.

I really am stunned for words, so I shall have a look at your tube videos.

*** Update ***

Just to ask, you have place holders for images, is it at all possible to have video playing or does it look too small?

General Discussion & Help / Why I am saying Goodbye for now
« on: May 23, 2017, 12:21:14 PM »
Hi Pieter, and all

I have tried to get along with RetroFE but to be honest, I can set up 5 systems within minutes on another software, and yet 1 on this.

Maybe this is lack of trial and not enough patience, but also my main reason is below.

My main reason is thus

16:9 this 16:9 that, a lot of people have cabinets, I am lucky to have a variety of displays, my main focus, however, is for my arcade cabinet which is a 4:3 display.

The lack of 4:3 skins is the main part of not continuing for the moment with RetroFE, however, when I come to look at my TV display then this will probably be the software that I focus on.

The display issues and also speed of setting up is why I have to jump ship, back to the ship that I jumped from lol

I am still floating about, and checking progress, but for my cab, this is just not the software that can support that.

Mark

One thing I will say about this, in the top left it says retrofe information, will this be changeable or can it be system specific?

The other is that this seems to be just one page not including the game information? Is this skin aimed at quality rather than quantity?

Indeed, but what I was referring too, was actually hiding the mouse full stop in retrofe, and people use their joy pads or whatever they use. However, you always will have an uphill battle, as one person wants one thing, another person wants another, sadly as the saying goes, you can never please all of the people.

Surely you can use a controller to navigate on RetroFe? You would not need a mouse to be displayed then, could just use the controller, indeed the keyboard for navigation?

Only me again.

In relation to these updates, I just looked at the retrofe directory on emu movies. I cannot find a directory called bezels, or even updates.

All the zip files are there, however, you are not saying what the bezels are, or how to download them.

E.G are they bezels for MAME, SNES, NES, Genesis etc etc

It is like me saying, I have a date tonight with Sandra Bullock, and someone replying oh yeah were too?

My reply is I dunno, she never told me where just a time.

For a newbie, saying bezels updated means nothing, you might know what you mean, a few others might know, but I am lost lol

General Discussion & Help / Re: RetroArch Launcher

Yeah, I did ask a while back, but he said that the 4:3 is not almost ready properly. Life apparently, when he should be busy skinning lol

I just love this skin though, the 60 in 1 cabinet, all this rubbish about oh namco made this in 1975 and it was designed by, it does not interest me so much.

It is just too geeky, and although I don't really play games any more, not in the sense that I did, but I want to collect because I can, one game I completed thanks to infinite credits R-Type.

Always so close but not enough 10'ps to feed it. I was disappointed that it was shorter than expected.

One good thing about an HTPC though, compared to a dedicated arcade machine, you do not want the rubbish games, space is more limited.

Anyway I am waffling, but 3am and can't sleep lol

This bad boy http://retrofe.nl/SMF/index.php?topic=13.0

I am shocked that it was for widescreen first, especially when it was originally a 4:3 cabinet design.

I fell in love with this when I first saw it on youtube, I think I saw it in real life as well, or something similar.

I usually like bells and whistles, but I have been preferring less is more in my old age.

I just tried the arguments, that was on the Wiki page for arch. I did a search here on how to get arch to work, but was very little info. At the moment I have my first system almost up and running, but all comes down to trial and error, you edit one file, but then you have to edit another, and another.

Sadly this is not as user-friendly, as some, it is more aimed at the higher food chain, than people who got puters for Christmas. The closest that I get to Linux, is Linus, my X key is worn out now, why p tube comes in handy.

If it was not for two skins, then I would not even have tried this really, it reasonably is not cab friendly, most of the skins are more for HTPC in my eyes, I am still patiently waiting for one lovely mod, to turn one skin into 4:3 no names mentioned, but you know whom you are ;)

Anyway, this was aimed at the novice, so I do apologize if the arguments, was not up to spec. Once I get more accustomed with the software, then I shall try to do better.

I use rocketlauncher for another program, but that is idiot proof, this you have to be Einstein for, so people such as myself who are new to RetroFE might not know how to set that up. All what I have seen is MAME talked about.

If like me, you wish to use RetroArch instead of MAME for launching games, I tried looking through the forum and could not really find anything conclusive on how to do so. However, I now have the Nintendo NES working, so once I get more systems added then I shall add to this. Please note that you have to have the cores installed to make things work.

PLEASE NOTE : I AM USING WINDOWS ONLY AND CANNOT COMMENT REGARDING LINUX

Nintendo Entertainment System (Text in red means that you might need to change to your file directory)
---------------------------------
executable = E:\Emulators\RetroArch\retroarch.exe
arguments = retroarch -L E:\Emulators\RetroArch\cores\nestopia_libretro.dll "%ITEM_FILEPATH%"

I hope this helps someone, I shall add to this slowly as I get bored after a while and then work on other things.

Infact saying that the chances are that all systems will work, as long as you just change the nestopia_libretro.dll to suit whatever emulator you need such as snes_libretro.dll for example

Speaking of packs, if I get spare time I can help with the collections that you do not have. I have three PC's that I want to add stuff to, home cinema, 4:3 arcade and vertical but I know with the vertical I shall be using another software as I do not think you have any vertical skins so far.

Thank you for the offer, but I think it is just one folder that is affected which is the system_artwork folder, I can find files for that, and Ryuuji has posted the story for me, so I can sort that folder out and it should work.

It is just weird how that was the only one I have had problems with and all the rest were fine, but you have downloaded and all good your end.

Thanks for all the help anyway, I am still pretty much nowhere but I shall probably take the rest of this week, trying to get the systems online.

I just done a quick video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vU5gO75KlYs this is what is happening my end.

I have downloaded it at least twice now to different hard drives using core ftp.

The download takes around 50 minutes and compressed file size is 4.7 gb
