Also, just wondered where we can find the mac version? :)

I'm pretty sure it's largely automated.  There's software that knows the standard login procedure for various forums, blog systems, etc. and just crawls the web looking for places to scribble. I think it's meant less for human consumption and more for the consumption of the other web crawlers that determine search rank and that sort of thing. Of course, I'm sure a lot of people end up clicking on some of the links anyway.

Yep, I've heard the term "spam-bots" quite frequently which is most likely what you're referring to. And they're probably floating around everywhere, finding new and innovative ways to annoy internet users across the globe :)

Godd that you keep the spam out.
Look at the emulationstation forum, you'll get shocked for life...  :'(

What blows my mind the most is that some person (or people) actually spammed 'the crap out of' that forum to the point where it's now a gigantic mess. It makes me wonder, did those persons really think that was going to be an effective form of advertising? Or, did they just do that to completely destroy the emulationstation forums?

Feature Requests / Suggestions / Re: Per game launcher configuration
« on: January 21, 2017, 07:28:25 AM »
I'm considering adding the following feature:
Add an optional launchers directory to each collection, in which a .conf file can be created for each game. When launching, RetroFE will check for the launcher file, and if it exists it will use that launcher. If it does not exist it will use the default launcher set for that collection.

This would be extremely useful and would be very helpful in situations where different emulators are necessary/required with various games. Definitely another great idea :)

You can also use the onMenuScroll animation in stead, and make it look more like HyperSpin, where art isn't visible during scrolling.

That sounds like a good idea. How can I use that?

Ok, so using your keyboard you click once, and then have to wait for 1-2 seconds for something to happen or does it scroll immediately, and it takes 1-2 seconds for the entire animation (menu scroll, fade-out, art loading, fade-in) to complete or it takes 1-2 seconds before you can click again or ...? :) Just trying to understand what the exact issue is. I can fix almost anything as long as I can understand and reproduce it. :)

Yep, the first one you mentioned (keyboard you click once, and then have to wait for 1-2 seconds for something to happen). For example, I want to scroll to the left (or right) to choose the next system, but even though I clicked, it doesn't move to the next system until 1-2 seconds later, hence the "lag"

Ok, that IS very odd. I would expect the menu to start scrolling immediately. If that's not the case for you, then I don't have a clue what might be causing that to be honest. This happens with the default theme (Aeon Nox) distributed with RetroFE or did you change any values?

It's with the Aeon Nox theme, Ergo Proxy, and a few other themes, as I've tried them out and come up with the same results. No values have been changed as far as I know. I guess I'll try a fresh install with the latest version you posted and see what happens  :P

Update: With a 'fresh' install including the latest retrofe.exe file, I've noticed that the lag seems to be caused by the program waiting for the media files for each system/game to load up on the screen. So, when there's any artwork including system, fanart, video, etc. it seems to be waiting for those to load before going to the next system/game. The loading of the artwork seems to be slowing down the pace of the wheel by a second or two

Using the keyboard arrow/direction keys for now, scrolling from left to right, up and down, just standard 'one click' stuff

Can you define what you notice as lag? I've implemented it such now that the menu scroll animation does not get chopped by art loading, but realise that if you are too slow in pressing next that the loading will slow things down. It should properly react to multiple quick presses too now: 5x next = 5 game scroll.

I had mentioned this on the original website forums a while back. At that time, the issue was related to the Aeon Nox theme, but this time it seems to be happening with other themes I've tried too.

In other words, you click to scroll left or right and have to wait 1-2 seconds before the wheel progresses. However, it's not a biggie since I can stick with the official version for now until things get sorted out in the future :) Just wanted to bring it to your attention

Try again?
I've included a new executable. Hopefully this one will work better for everyone. :)

Please, back up your retrofe.exe before using this one. It's WIP and not fully tested yet.

This version contains playlist support and hierarchical rom directory support. Check the bit bucket commits for details.

Hate to bring this issue up again, but I've noticed that with this latest version, the wheel lag problem is back again :o I even tried a fresh install and noticed that there is a very noticeable lag in the wheel, but when I revert back to the previous version, there's no lag. Just wanted to bring this to your attention  :D
