You can always map a single key to the quit button of course.

I'll have a look to see how I can catch that event from within the application. I'll have to read up on the SDL library for that.

That's odd though, because it works perfectly fine on my Windows 10. With
windowBorder = yes
windowResize = yes
I not only have a window bar at the top, but I can resize and move the window as well.

See if this works for you? Add
windowBorder = yes
windowResize = yes
to your global settings.conf file. It should add the bar as well as the ability to resize the window.

Adding the bar as an option shouldn't be too much work. I'll have a look; I need to make a few other small changes anyway.

Iím afraid not. If you use different layout files, RetroFE will exit one and start the next.

Every collection can have its own layout. Please read the manual: http://www.retrofe.nl/wiki/doku.php?id=layouts

General Discussion & Help / Re: RetroFE Crashing

Is it a specific set of videofiles that causes this perhaps?

General Discussion & Help / Re: RetroFE Crashing
« on: October 03, 2021, 05:46:47 PM »
I've heard this from other people as well, and it only appears to  be a Windows issue. So far I've been unable to determine whether this is an issue with the multiple monitor code or the update to the latest SDL and gstreamer libraries under Windows. Considering my Linux build has been very stable, I'm fearing it may be the latter. Unfortunately, I don't have a lot of debug options under Windows. It might be related to specific videos that cause the crash; if anyone can consistently cause it to happen using specific steps, then please let me know and send me a small test set so I can try to reproduce the issue and figure out what might be causing it.

Announcements / Website restore
« on: October 03, 2021, 05:44:27 PM »
I just had to do a restore of the RetroFE website, because the site went down after a WordPress update. I'm not sure if we lost anything important in this way; if people's posts were deleted as a result, then I apologize. I guess that will teach me not to update other people's software...

General Discussion & Help / Re: MAME/MESS XML and include files

Ok, with a lot of trial and error I think I've managed to create files for MAME 0.236 again. Keeping my fingers crossed that everything went as it should, but if you want to give it a go you can find them at the Download page.

There seems to be an issue with certain setups that use multiple monitors. I haven't been able to figure out what might be the cause of it.

<reloadableVideo type="audio" alpha="1" x="center" y="center" yOrigin="center" xOrigin="center" yOffset="-67" xOffset="4" width="678" height="508" layer="5" ></reloadableVideo>

You used imageType in stead of type. imageType is the backup image directory it looks in when it cannot find an acceptable file in the main directory.
Yes, you can use reloadableAudio as well; the two tags work exactly the same.

If you can send me a small zip file with the necessary files that shows the issue, or record a video that shows the issue, perhaps I can have a look. I most certainly will need your layout.xml file for it.

RetroFE only loads a single file per tag in the layout.xml file, and it does so with a certain priority. What you can do is copy the reloadableVideo tag, and setting the type for that tag to e.g. audio. You can then move the .wav file in the audio directory of your collection (just create one right next to your video directory), and it will find the wav file with the newly created second tag and the image with the original tag.
