I like it. :) It really brings back that 80s feeling.
Maybe a bit more text still, explaining features, etc. The L also looks a lot like a Z in this font. :)

I think the logo should have the same look and feel as the default intro video.
I think some of the newly approved themes need to be added
I like the neon text. So maybe a few more instances of that calling out top features.
Just some ideas...Looks great, if you add more themes/layouts I would shorten the display of them as a quick 30 seconds.
10 themes, 30 seconds each, 5 minutes total, 10 callouts with neon text.

If the Pandoras Box 16s9 gets fixed I can do that one too. My goal with the logo stuff at the begining of the video was to be the same. If using a logo for something it should say this IS RETROFE. So the icon, website logo, logos used elsewhere should all be the same. Its your brand of fun and should be consistent across all mediums. My 2 cents anyway. Curious to see what you come up with now that you have more vids as I am not good at that and I really enjoyed what you had. Good luck!

You're right; I've uploaded a new version.
I am not sure why for layouts like this, the system icons(like the console pics) are not included? I went to do the video and it requires additional stuff to get working. Imho it should be a matter of swapping your layout name in the settings.conf and bam whole thing looks awesome and uses all the artwork I have in my layout folder. At any rate I will skip the vid for this one.

This is an old theme that was updated for 0.7.2+. Back then, device.png was considered available by all users; we even distributed sets to people. I guess I could zip up a set again sometime, and make it available via the download section. :)

I like the text, but the video feels too long to me. I'd reduce it to 2-3m at most, probably by showing only the best looking themes or by showing shorter snippets of the current themes, and keep the text (just packed in shorter intervals).

I guess it would be best for 1 person to do the videos so I think shorter will be better as well and something more of along the lines of this:
Theme 1:
Scroll down 3 systems
Enter third system
scroll down a few games
Exit back
Theme 2:
Starts Where Theme 1 was
Scrolls down 3 systems
Enter third system
Scroll down a few games
Exit back
Repeat
We can shorten it up and pick the best ones. doesnt matter to me what themes just let me know which ones and I think I will go with that and have it be 15 seconds a theme. That will have a flow to it to kind of showcase different systems, different themes, and how everything could look on your setup. What do you think about that? Plus it would be a faster pace that would fit in with the music more.

All right gents here are the themes I want to use and here is what I plan on doing:
Animatic
GLaDOS - 16x9
Pandora's Box 16x9
Pandora's Box HD
RAW
RetroSpin - Static 16x9
Ergo Proxy
Pandora's Box HD G
Maybe Flatio if I can get it working. the blue bars disappear on me.
So Each theme only has so much artwork for so many system so to make it look good I need to lay out many system I have. Divide that number by the 8 themes. Then my plan is to record them scrolling through a couple selections select a system. Spin the wheel fast or menu. then back out. Then record the next theme where the last one left off and move 3 systems and then go in. Spin and back out. etc. Took me a bit to figure a few things out on my setup to get all these working (longer than expected) and I still need to figure out the order so they make sense and look good as for instance I cant have ergo proxy display Philips VG5000 as it has no artwork for it and will look like crap. So anyways I should be done this week. I ran into some issues last friday so just wanted to give ya'll an update

Nothing from you. I just need to slim my systems down with a favorites list so themes that use device images look full and no missing stuff, like fm towns has no device and a few others, I use personally. I am moving along nicely now.

Love the flow. Its more fast paced, fits the music better. I dont feel like I am waiting for sections to complete as much. I think we could speed it up more, yet. My determination to show ase systems made it longer but I think its a good showcase.

I really like it, though I still think you should start the video with the short thunder intro (with sound) you created for the Aeon Nox theme. :)

I agree with Pieter, it needs some sort of intro imo. The way it starts now seems a bit abrupt.
The Nox theme is missing the score and story which makes it look a bit empty. The developer info is just the publisher info mirrored probably because the xml didn't have it in there, it would be better if that was accurate so it doesn't look like the two fields are the same. Just some small details I noticed.
I think it may be a good idea to add text for nested collections and have the video show an example of that (can't remember if one does currently). It's one of the best features of RFE imo and it's one of the most popular requests for other frontends.

I think mostly: make sure that the menu items you show during the presentation of a theme also contain all the elements of that theme. Currently many elements are glaringly missing in some of the themes.

Which is mostly text. Man I detest text, but I digress. I did what I could to find text. Of I could get per theme pointers on where to get missing text and where to put, I am more than happy to rerecord that is not a problem. My theme doesnt use text to look good so I had to do a fair amount of research and setup on these others that do use text to get what I got. Thanks for the help!

Ok, I added info.conf files for additional text where applicable. So it will have something where there is supposed to be something for some of these themes. SO I plan on re-recording:

Pandora's Box 16x9
Aeon Nox
I have setup a submenu structure for my Arcade classics using those newer platform videos the Animatic theme to open with however I am having an issue which I posted about on that thread. Once I figure out how to fix that we will be as good as gold, I think unless you gents want anything else.

Once I get the sub menu thing figured out for animatic I will have that setup for mame with submenus and platform videos, which should showcase nicely.

I'm not sure the dashes show all available features, but it's certainly an improvement. :) For the Sega Genesis presentation of the Aeon Nox theme, it may be good to use the following meta XML file.

Sure thing. I thought that stuff came from the info.conf. hence the dashes as I wasnt going to look up all the systems. I put in all my hyperspin xml files and deleted the metadata.db. are you saying nox should pull that from metadata.db?
I will record nox again btw thats no biggie

That is fine, I did not know that you added stuff to the xml. I had several systems not showing any data at all for games like msdos for example. So one day I started copying my hyperspin xml files over yours and deleted my meta.db. as my theme only uses game data I did not think it was a big deal. But as the larger community as a whole is moving away from manually generated databases it may be wise to hook into gamesdb or moby for that info at some point.

I'm afraid not; I just added them to the EmuMovies sets. Here's what I currently use, though they could certainly use some updates.

I talk to a few of the guys here and this video thread cropped up a while back.
I'm slowly adding and editing stuff on my website and as yet have nothing on RetroFE..... I want to big this place up a big publically because everyone I talk to loves it and Pieter has been working hard for a long time around the place.
Anyway....
Whats the score with the video? Is it on youtube, signed off as worthy to put out. Would anyone mind if I added it to my Youtube to get at least a placeholder link going. I may be able to embed it in my site with a link to retrofe.nl.

With the copyright strikes against Simply Austin and ETAPrime. I decided to take a little time to review the video before posting. :(
that means more time needed to do it so will see when it fits in next time I update my site. As I want to cover LaunchBox and RetroX android frontend also. So im being more impartiall.
I may end up doing one at a time and so long as video passes my check easy I will do RetroFE 1st. As you deserve more love than the others

At the beginning, still. I first have to learn how to properly use the Pi, so I've got Raspbian Stretch running now, and plan on doing some MAME 0.186 tests first. I may need to manually install a new version of SDL to get proper hardware acceleration, so I want to figure that out first before turning to RetroFE.
